Christmas and New Year Holiday at Sparrow Hall Cottages really means a traditional Festive holiday.  All the cottages have Christmas trees in their lounges and Festive wreaths on the doors. Santa Clause has easy access down our chimneys and with open fireplaces, plenty of space for the mince pie, sherry and carrot.

Our heated indoor swimming pool is open as usual, nothing better than having your own pool right outside your door.  

Sparrow Hall is an ideal situation weather for that different festive holiday  or  for the  traditional family Christmases or New Year get together, when several cottages can be booked to bring everyone together.

This time of year in North Yorkshire is always a special time, the hospitality in our local hostelries is second none. Snow is usually found on the North York Moors and often at the cottages. York is magical with various buildings being illuminated this year, enhancing  the traditional Christmas lights. The ghost walks, York Dungeon, National Railway Museum, Yorvik Centre and the Macarthur Glen Designer Outlet offer something for everyone over this seasonal holiday.

Historic sites including Castle Howard, the stately home near Malton, will be beautifully decorated for the festive season or at Helmsley Castle and Mount Grace Priory, visitors can experience a medieval Christmas. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway and the Wensleydale Railway will be running Santa Specials, whilst in Scarborough, events over the Winter Wonderland weekend will include a snow machine, reindeer parade and lots of children's entertainment. A stroll through York at Christmas is a magical experience; its narrow cobbled streets, medieval buildings and towering Minster naturally lend themselves to a unique yuletide atmosphere.

New Year 2008 - The M family. Christmas tree was a lovely supplies and the mince pies scrumptious, had a lovely week and used the swimming pool daily mostly twice, log fire is lovely..... Hopefully we will be back as our grandson has fallen in love with the big dog that sits on the bench on the landing.
